GLP-1 Weight Loss Blood Monitoring Panel
A comprehensive health check for patients using Mounjaro®, Wegovy® and other prescription weight loss injections.
At Chic Healthcare, we believe successful weight management is about far more than the number on the scales.
Our GLP-1 Weight Loss Blood Monitoring Panel has been designed specifically for patients using prescription weight loss medication. It provides a detailed assessment of your metabolic health, organ function and nutritional status, helping to ensure your treatment remains both safe and effective.
Whether you're considering starting treatment, currently increasing your dose or have been taking GLP-1 medication for several months, regular monitoring can provide valuable reassurance and help identify any issues before they become clinically significant.

Why should I have blood tests whilst taking GLP-1 medication?
Medicines such as Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) and Wegovy® (semaglutide) work by reducing appetite, slowing stomach emptying and improving the body's response to insulin.
As weight loss occurs, your body undergoes significant metabolic changes. Whilst these medicines are generally very safe when prescribed appropriately, monitoring your health allows us to:
- Establish your health before treatment begins
- Assess how your body is responding to treatment
- Monitor kidney and liver function
- Detect dehydration or nutritional deficiencies
- Assess blood sugar control and insulin resistance
- Monitor cholesterol and cardiovascular risk
- Review thyroid and hormone health
- Identify any abnormalities that may require further investigation
- Support safe, long-term weight management
Our prescribing pharmacists can then use these results to provide personalised advice and ensure your treatment remains appropriate.

Who is this test suitable for?
This blood test is suitable for adults who:
- Are considering starting Mounjaro® or Wegovy®
- Are already taking GLP-1 medication
- Have experienced rapid weight loss
- Have a history of diabetes or pre-diabetes
- Want reassurance that treatment is working safely
- Wish to optimise their long-term health alongside weight loss

When should I have this test?
We generally recommend:
Before starting treatment
Establishes your baseline health before medication begins.
Around 3–6 months after starting treatment
This is often when you've reached higher doses and significant weight loss may have occurred. It allows us to assess how your body has responded and identify any changes requiring attention.
Every 6–12 months thereafter
For patients continuing long-term treatment, annual monitoring helps ensure treatment remains safe and appropriate.
More frequent testing may be recommended if you:
- Have Type 2 diabetes
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Experience significant side effects
- Lose weight rapidly
- Develop new medical conditions
- Are advised to do so by your prescribing pharmacist
Whilst routine blood testing is not mandatory for every patient taking GLP-1 medication, ongoing clinical monitoring is recommended as part of safe prescribing, particularly during dose escalation and long-term treatment. NICE also recommends reviewing treatment effectiveness after six months for some GLP-1 therapies and continuing treatment only where there is meaningful clinical benefit.

Important Information
This blood test is designed to support the safe monitoring of patients using prescription weight loss medication.
It does not diagnose every medical condition and does not replace routine care from your GP or other healthcare professionals.
If your results identify anything requiring further investigation, we'll explain your results clearly and advise you on the most appropriate next steps.
Patients taking GLP-1 medication should seek urgent medical advice if they develop severe or persistent abdominal pain, particularly if associated with nausea or vomiting, as this may require prompt assessment.
